Guest guest
Hello, I received my swiss chard seeds in the mail yesterday... Now, what do I do? It says it loves the heat, well it being August and the weather in Mid Tennessee is soon to start getting colder, I have decided to plant these in individual planters, the kind with the 8 cups or so attached and try growing them individually outside until it starts to cool up and then put them inside by the heaters????? I don't know how well this will work and desperately need some suggestions...AND recipes. Thanks, a Faye
Guest guest
a...I am sure you will do just fine with them outside for now! Like spinache, it does not take long for them to shoot up. When it gets cooler just put a 1/2 plastic milk jug over them at night. As far as recipes, you can substite it for anything you use spinache for. I cook alot of Italian, so I throw it in right before I am ready to serve it so it just wilts a bit. I also make salad out of it and I top it with sliced almonds. But, my favorite, is steaming it and then topping it with fresh garlic and margarine. It is all in what tastes you enjoy!!! Good Luck!
