Guest guest
> I am not saying that you shouldn't use some common sense, You hit it squarely on the head. The problem is that many folks will buy all the items that someone has to sell, and 1) they didn't really need them, or 2) even if they did, there can be far cheaper choices and just as quality. I'm glad you had a good experience! And yes, profit is not a bad thing! Unfortunately, we have seen a few folks over time here who bought lots of expensive stuff they didn't need, and/or they could have found it much cheaper somewhere else....and still just as quality. And honestly......even though I support profit......and though I support natural ways to help us, I find it a conflict of interest when a health professional sells his own vitamins/minerals/herbs. I have personally experienced two health professionals who did this to me, and I felt taken advantage of since I was in a needy state (i.e. sick or hurting). Patients are often desperate and vulnerable-- willing to do ANYTHING to feel better. Again, if someone has a positive experience as you did with a health professional that sells his own vitamins/minerals/herbs, good!! But......I notice that all too often, the patient gets suckered...because you can't take away normal human greed. Guest guest
What is probably worse is when someone buys all of the 'stuff' and then doesn't take them. If you don't do what the practitioner advises then you can hardly blame them. So many people buy and then just don't follow through. And for me, I hate the genuine aspect that when you go see a doc, you are needy.....vulnerable.....easy influenced.....and you will tend to buy ANYTHING the practitioner recommends that you buy from them.......and I certainly believe that they know that!! Again, I am not knocking their recommendations..nor do I knock profit. But it seems like a RIPE situation to be conned. And I have witnessed that over and over--both from my own experience....and from those who have posted here. Janie
Guest guest
I have a real problem with having to go see somebody who is the only supplier of something I need when it comes to supplements and my health. To me that usually means there is going to be a huge mark up and a big dent in my wallet or checkbook. I'm just leary. I just have this thing about having to rake up outrageous amts of money to be able to feel well. It's the main reason I gave up on Endo's. They were a one way ticket to the poorhouse and I still got no relief. Specialty clinics are all the same to me. They are there to x-ray the wallet. In our quest to feel better, it's very easy to 'fall for some of the claims' that some of these places make. I remember when I was being treated for hyperT, and was actually hypo because of the overmedication. I knew something was wrong, because I shouldn't have felt that bad. I finally had to fire the dr, and I also read an article @ about.com and saw what supplements Shomon took ( a view into her medicine cabinet). I bought several that were supposed to work well when you're hypo and they really helped. I didn't go into mega debt, and they were actually quite inexpensive. I stayed away from the 'have to order from here' situations and the results were good. I have no problem with people making a profit, but when it puts me in the poorhouse, I have to find alternatives. Then I found this place. :-) It's been a while since I've purchased something that wasn't needed because I just wait instead of buying because it sounds good.
