Hi,

I am new to the list and after some lurking, this is my first post. I've been

diagnosed with filbro since 1994 but have been very lucky up until now: this is

my first time that I have needed to take a leave of absence from work. Up until

now my primary problem has been terrible migraine headaches and depression--both

of which I took medication for. In March I had a big downturn (I guess its

called a flare-up) and decided to see a new doctor here in New Jersey who has

been absolutely wonderful, sensitive, intuitive and very aware of work being

done in the field of CFIDS and Fibromyalgia. He did an awesome number of tests

and found that my thyroid function is really off as well as my pituitary

hormones. I am now on thyroid meds (T3 and T4) and am feeling somewhat better.

I am keeping my hopes up. There are many doctors out there doing work in this

area, particularly a Dr. Lowe in Boulder Colorado. A friend turned me on to his

website: it is really very interesting: www.drlowe.com He believes that

fibromyalgia is a hormonal autoimmune disease of the thyroid; it is the first

time that I found anything on the web that agrees with my doctor. Has anyone

else out there found this connection? Thank you all for your posts.
