Guest guest
Hi Kathy, I'm in a similar boat, I suppose. Only just officially diagnosed Friday. Have just started taking my meds, not self-medicating... yet..... I think everyone is in a similar boat, but everyone's particulars are very individual too. I am getting some good basic, starter advice/cautions in this thread: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormones/message/51 016 (message no. 51016, if that link doesn't work) What to expect, etc. It may not apply directly to you in all ways, but may apply in some ways. Scan the messages for other " newbie " sounding posts, and we will probably both learn a lot. I know I can't keep up with all the posts on here. This is one busy (thank God) group!! Good luck, Vicki > > ...or at least close to it? > I haven't rec'd the Armour yet, but would love to know who here is > just starting out on thyroid hormones recently.... > ...because it might help me to get through the initial phase of > treatment...[...snip...]
Guest guest
Hi Kathy, I just started armour a little over a week ago, I think... lol. Good grief.. The mind I tell you, but anyway, I have been officially diagnosed. I do have some Isocort sitting by should I need adrenal support - I was also diagnosed with low adrenal function, but don't want to get on the Isocort unless I need. I take it now and again - 1 pill, if I'm feeling especially tired. Probably not the way to go about it. Now I'm going to try 's suggestion of just spacing out my Armour dosage and seeing what happens. Once my order comes in, I'll up my dose a titch. I'm on one grain a day now. You know, 'moral support'. Have you been " officially " diagnosed?...because I haven't. Are you self-treating?...because I will be. Are you also on anything for adrenal support? I'm not and not sure 100% if I should be, either. Thanks. Kathy
Guest guest
HI Alyce, A week, huh? And, so far no negative symptoms?? Like I said, I haven't rec'd the Armour yet...but, how do the tablets come? Do you split them easily to get the small increases, such as a half a grain? And, how long would a bottle of 100 last for someone like us just starting out at a low dose? Please, let me know how you're doing. Guest guest
Kathy, You'll not only find moral support, here, you will find the kind of intelligent help that I used to think doctors were supposed to be capable of -- only much better because it's backed by years and years of experience, here. I'm real new to. I'm glad I had some lab work done in January because it turns out that I have thyroid anti-bodies so that means I have Hashimoto's Auto-Immune Thyroid (HAIT), or Hashi's. I got impatient with the so-called expert doc who was stringing me along and started trying an OTC glandular and I had now way of really controlling the dosage, although I started to feel great, fast. After about 2 weeks it looked like I needed a more intelligent, and measured (literally) approach and I changed docs. The new doc ordered the rest of the right tests (Free T3, and adrenal 4Xday) finally. I'm waiting to start on a smarter, baby-step, course... Welcome! you're gonna love it, here, especially if you are even a bit more teachable and patient than I was! .... ...or at least close to it? You know, 'moral support'. Have you been " officially " diagnosed? Are you also on anything for adrenal support? I'm not and not sure 100% if I should be, either. Guest guest
Thanks, Alyce, Your memory's bad, my memory's bad,... I glad for you....having good luck with this, I mean. I think I ordered the half grain tabs. Nobody has to worry about me increasing too quickly! HA-HA!! I'm too chicken....still not sure about all this. I suppose a diagnosis would help...but, no good drs. around here that I know of...don't know what i'll do if I get myself into a medical emergency....probably croak. Keep me posted Kathy > > > > ...or at least close to it? > > I haven't rec'd the Armour yet, but would love to know who here is > > just starting out on thyroid hormones recently.... > > ...because it might help me to get through the initial phase of > > treatment...if I can compare my progress (or lack of it) with > your's > > (if you know what I mean).
