Guest guest
, you sound horribly like me. I kept increasing and increasing and still could sleep 20 hours out of the day. Finally at 4.5 grains Armour I had some bloodwork done for my Free levels. My T3 was still below range. That was when I added in Cytomel and started to really improve. Now I am STILL not 100% but I am 250 times better than I was and still have some lingering symptoms going away every now & then. I am overdue for more testing and want to get Ferritin too with the next round, but I haven;t done it yet. You might order some tests from Healthcheck just to see where your levels are and tweak with a tad more T4 or a tad more T3. Sometimes that is all it takes to fix things right up. *Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV Fat cat? Diabetes? Guest guest
Hi Janie and thanks for your response. I appreciate it. Yes, I'm doing the 24 hour test and will also be having DHEA and sex hormones tested. I'm 44 and had a hysterectomy at 24...so who knows where my hormones are! My ferritin was tested about 2 months ago and is 91. My FT3 at that time was 252 (230-420), which was after 3 months on Armour including 7 weeks on 2 grains. I'll probably have my next labs done in a month. I don't usually take my temp in the afternoon but today I did as I was feeling feverish...it was 97.4 orally. This morning my BBT was 96.6. I've been tracking my BBT for the last 5 weeks at my doctor's request and have noticed that I tend to go up and down by 1/2 to 1 degree but never get above 97.3...which is still better than I used to be. Could the thyroid hormone resistance be related to my having gone untreated for many, many years? My doctor sent me info on this before...I'll have to dig it up and re-read it. I'm just worried that his previous troubles with our State Medical Board for using Armour and other " natural " remedies is going to keep him from going the limit with me should I need much more. He doesn't even know yet that I'm at 4 grains! LOL He gave me the go ahead after my last labs 2 months ago to " experiment " with my dose...so I have been gradually increasing every 2-3 weeks with absolutely no side effects and very little improvement. Thanks again, Janie. ~ > > , doing that adrenal saliva test sounds like the perfect > step to take. Hopefully it's the 24 hour variety. > > Have you tested your Ferritin? Guest guest
Hi ...and thanks for your help once again! I'll be doing labs again in a month since I just had my last increase only 2 weeks ago. I'm curious where my FT3 is now...2 months ago it was 252 (230-420) after 3 months on Armour, including 7 weeks on 2 grains. Within range but for me too low. Prior to starting meds the lab failed to do the requested FT3 but my FT4 was pretty darned good at 1.4 (.8-1.8). I know T3/T4 meds tend to decrease the T4 some but I can't help but wonder what my body is doing with all this T4 I'm taking now and how much more my body will be able to handle! It's encouraging to know you had similar problems yet have gotten some positive improvement...I desperately hope to be there with you! Thanks, ~ > , you sound horribly like me. Guest guest
Yup, you could be thyroid hormone resistant, which means you are tissue resistant...and your temps make that mighty suspicious. Or, your adrenals are a factor. Here's a very detailed study of thyroid hormone resistance (go get your cup of coffee and make sure your computer chair has a cushion): http://www.annals.org/cgi/content/full/123/8/572 Once you get up to 4-6 grains, and have no good response, it's time to consider adding Cytomel.....And hang in there, dear one. Your time will come!! Janie > Hi Janie and thanks for your response. I appreciate it. > > Yes, I'm doing the 24 hour test and will also be having DHEA and sex > hormones tested.
