Having only being diagnosed with PSC and Crones these last couple

month....AND SCARED TO HECK>>>I'm sure the board has heard it

all...I'm the guy that answered a sleep ad question and a few people

told me 5 HTP was bad for the liver....well I told my dear old sister

this and here's what she heard back from her Doctor.

" My Doctor is very knowledgeable about what you have and has had

patients with it, evidently. In my case it doesn't apply because I

take low dosages...She strongly recommended that you be tested for

celiac disease, which goes along with Crohns and IBS. If you have

celiac disease (it runs in family's just like hypothyroidism which is

in our family too) you should be on a COMPLETELY gluten free diet.

(She tested me and I am borderline.) She said there have been cases

of reversal of your symptoms and recovery from PSC backing up this

information and referred a site : pubmed.gov. She said to search it

like this. PSC AND gluten. It will take you to those cases. She said

even if you came back borderline with a gluten sensitivity she would

stay completely on a gluten free diet. I know that is hard because

that is what I am doing. I feel a LOT better and the minute I eat

gluten I feel bad again.Thankfully there are a lot of gluten free

products now. "
