Hello Karl:

I am posting a reply to your message to the board, that's how you should also address all messages you want for all members to see. I am not attaching your message, as it had too much personal information and I didn't know whether you wanted it posted. I can forward it to the board when you tell me it's ok for all to read.

It seems you are on the right track and your doctors are keeping track of everything. When I was diagnosed 17 years ago, I had kidney involvement right from the start, but as long as my kidney function was fine, they really didn't do much about the protein. Now I have permanent kidney function loss, and the new study shows that protein lost over extended years can lead to permanent kidney damage. At times I would loose around 11 grams of protein, and two years ago my kidney function started going down, down, down. It was going so fast there was no time to try anything but treat it aggressively with chemo. My creatinine was about 3.8 at that time, it has gone down to about 1.5. Not perfect, but much better than they expected it to do.

I'm sure you will find lots of support here and I understand you wish to watch us for a bit before you "jump in". Please feel free to ask questions and let us know if you have any concerns you wish to discuss.

Good luck.

Mojo
