Guest guest
Good Morning KJ and Welcome to our list! Oh I wish I felt like I might have hope someday of being athletically involved in anything, but those days are gone for me I am afraid. I am 50 and after 25 years of Synthroid, THAT did me in literally. I am happy to just be able to clean my own home and go to work every day without pain. That and my brain FINALLY seems to be coming a little more alive. Words of wisdom? HA! If you want it done right, do it yourself! Sorry, I am so sick of doctors and their BULL I just say why waste half your life looking for a good one? In my hypo Hell I was so stuck in a rut I let them run me through 25 years of telling me I needed antidepressants, a diet, and more exercise as I just needed to get on the right dose of Synthroid & I would feel fine... Well I got tired of waiting FINALLY! Now the best care in the world by someone that actually cares about what I feel like, ME! SO I can;t really recommend a way to get better doctor care, except don't take their excuses and interview them BEFORE you even make an appointment. Basic things like do they do the Free testing and do they prescribe Armour, actually " Which thyroid medicine do you prescribe and why? " should about get it. ANY part of the misinformation is in their answer, don't bother with an appointment. Artistic Grooming Hurricane, West Virginia

Hi KJ, I am only going to address this one since I am not an expert like the other wonderful ladies here. Both grandmother's, and myself have (had) thyroid disease. Since one grandmother has now passed away I do not know what all transpired, and the other won't talk about it other than to tell me she takes meds everyday. I have hashimoto's. About 6 months ago, I noticed that both my daughter's were starting to have what I considered early hypo symptoms. I watched for a couple of months and then had them start taking their basal temps. Both girls were coming in at around 97.4 every morning. I took them in to the pediatrician, who wonderfully and surprisingly tested them for the Free T's, ferritin and of course TSH (I didn't ask for that one!). My 13 year old came back with low ferritin, so I have been treating her and will do blood work again in a month to see how that is doing before adding in some thyroid med (I will be using Naturethroid). My 11 year old's tests came back with antibodies as well as low T's, though the TSH was low, I am not counting that as anything since the antibodies were present. Her ferritin level was terrific, so I decided to get her on a good multiple and have watched her temp for another month. No change. So, just this morning, I started her on a 1/2 grain of Naturethroid. She will be taking her morning temp, recording it and I will be watching her carefully. In two weeks I will decide if I want to increase her again. I hope this helps, if you have any more questions, fire away! Kerry __________________________________ Celebrate Yahoo!'s 10th Birthday!
