Guest guest
Cindi & , I had to have some x-rays done because I kept getting a pain that was on the left side of my rib cage. This was not long after I had changed dr's for my hyperT/Graves (and being ovemedicated for that year that led to being hypoT). It seems that the pcp who likes to be 'very dramatic' initially told me that it was most likely cancer, which scared the heck out of me. I had the scan done, and from the findings, it seems that the bone had grown, which was the cause for the uncomfortableness. The uncomfortable effects are always on my left side, and it feels as if it's right above or at the top of the rib cage. After dr dipstick found out that the bone growth was causing the problem, and not cancer, I fired him. He's also the same dr who I went to when I first got really sick with the hyperT/graves and told me my problems sounded thyroid related. He is the idiot who decided 'after I left' that it wasn't thyroid at all and never ran any thyroid tests till I saw the blood tests results with not even a TSH on it. I'd love to find the results of that test that explained about the bone growth. Nobody had any explanations for it, and I wasn't even on thyroid meds at the time. I was just weaning off anti thyroid meds for the hyperT/Graves. I'll see if I can't dig them up. SandyE~Houston Re: Leg Cramps? Guest guest
yep, this was a scan actually, instead of x-rays although I did have xrays done first. I had to have some type of radioactive type iodine to be done. I have no clue why the excess bone growth? But it wasn't causing a problem so they did absolutely nothing. What I have experienced is not pain but an actual " Charlie Horse " of the muscles over the ribs. No pain at all except when it is locked up and I am literally writhing trying to find a position that will release it! LOL *Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV Fat cat? Diabetes? Guest guest
, I used to get a Charlie Horse over the ribs area too, a few years back when I had gained some weight. Very painful! But I seem to have gotten over it now, even though I weigh more than I ever have. Maybe it was a mineral shortage or something. Do the muscles kind of " flutter " when the charlie horse starts to go away? > >>Cindi & , I had to have some x-rays done because I kept getting a pain that was on the left side of my rib cage. << > > I think this is likely something different than what I have had. Guest guest
Yep! That was it! Mine would come on if I made a certain movement, like bending and twisting at the same time. When one would come on, I could hardly move or breathe. Thankfully, they didn't last long. I hope your's don't either. > >>Do the muscles kind > of " flutter " when the charlie horse starts to go away?<< > > YES! Guest guest
I hardly get them at all anymore, well last week had a couple but after being sick with diarrhea all the last two weeks I knew I needed both fluids and salt so have been trying to replenish since I am feeling a little better. Seems as though whenever get sick with anything is when I get these and I just have to eat some salt and they stop, but I must have something wrong that is screwing up the electrolyte balance or it wouldn;t keep happening. I have been getting these things for about 4 years now off & on. *Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV Fat cat? Diabetes?
