Guest guest
Rach, Sorry to hear that PSC reared it's ugly head again for you. Cipro is the anti bio of choice for cholangitis here in the states. I was diagnosed in 2001 and had my first attack last spring. I had an ERCP to clean up the blockage which were some bile duct stones. No more attacks. I know some of our members have started their PSC like you with attacks and some have had a few in the early months and years with a cholangitis remission of sorts since. Others have had intermittent attacks while some go attack free until cirrhosis. Everyone is a little different I think. I'm glad your feeling better and thanks for the well wishes for Hillbilly Bob. Guest guest
Rach, I've had the symptoms you described with the exception of the red rash during my cholangitis attacks. I have been given cipro eleven times since May of 07 for cholangitis. It has always worked well for me in the short term although I seem to have recurring infections. I am now on cipro daily to keep the cholangitis under control. Not sure if the attacks mean things are progressing or if I'm just prone to infections. Hope you're having a good weekend. Guest guest
Yep – sometimes cipro, sometimes levaquin, but they are really about the same drug. The big difference is levaquin is taken once a day, and cipro twice. Either way the response is remarkable!
