Hi y'all --

Have finally caved and have an appt to see a new rheumatologist on Monday

next. I've felt as if I were slowly getting worse again, and then in the

past 3 days, WHAM -- much, much worse very quickly. Compounded this time

by a maddening kind of joint pain. At first I thought it was just part of

the increasing aches in my muscles, but I can see now they appear to be

kind of separate. It's elbows, hips and knees for the most part. It's

pain, but it's not the feel of anything broken; I did have a hip fracture 2

years ago, but this is not the same. It's more of, well, a deep kind of

tingly itching feeling, and it is driving me around the bend. I'm very

afraid of rheumatoid arthritis. But I don't think that's it; there's no

swelling that I can detect, although the joints are warm to the touch. Of

course how would I see swelling in my hip joint? It just feels rotten.

Hoping this new rheumie can assist me, and also give me some input

regarding FMLA and other options. Work is deadly difficult right now. I

have no intention of leaving -- in fact have been busy working toward some

goals, returning to school and so on -- but I have got to have a cushion of

some kind.

If anyone else has experienced itchy painful joints, let me know? I'm

about to scream right now at how terrible they feel. NOTHING helps. They

don't let me sleep. It's just nuts.

Best,

Em
