Guest guest
Hi, -Joy. ESR is erythrocyte sedimentation rate. Mine's high too but so far the doctors aren't quite sure what it means just that it's unusual. Will you let me know what they say about yours? Sandi in VA p.s. Here's a site that tells you a bit more...but don't let it scare you too much! http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003638.htm

Guest guest
, From my experience when my ESR is up I am having a flare up of my autoimmune disorders and that something in my body is inflamed. It usually means that I will be having more tests to determine what is causing the rate to go up. Not much of an answer - sorry Dawn > > Hi all I rang to get my results today and found our that my ESR is way > to high and that the doctor wants to speak to me about it but isn't in > till tomorrow so does anyone have any clue to what that means? >

Guest guest
-Joy, Hi! I'm so sorry you're having to deal with a doctor who would even dare to call you lazy. I don't know you, but PSC IS exhausting. There are days where I literally am too tired to get out of bed. Is there anyway that you can find yourself another doctor who respects you and what you're dealing with? Hope your appointment goes well tomorrow! Guest guest
kelly, From my experience, yes there would be something going on, but they may not be able to determine exactly what. It might just be that your body is having an inflamatory response to something. If you have UC, CD or PSC, those could be the cause; however, even then, it would indicate, from what I have been told that your body is working estra haright now, and yes that could help to explain your fatigue. Please let us know what you find out. PS. I think your Doctor owes you an appology!! Guest guest
I spoke to my GP and he is going to speak to my liver specialist and see what he thinks. But I did find out that if you have a very high ESR result its a sign that your body is fighting an infection usually. I let you know once I know anything else
