Guest guest
a, You are certainly no over-reacting where it concerns your son. You are being a parent as we are called to do, and protecting your child. It is very inappropriate in my opinion that they let him watch these things without first consulting you as the parent. I worked in a home for DD patients and let me tell you there were strict guidelines. They technically were adults, but in mind at the age of children. They most certainly did not get to watch things such as R movies. I would talk with the director of the first talk to the house manager, and if that does not resolve the issue, I would talk to the director of services. If he was being overmedicated by staff, when it was prescribed another way. I would talk to the Onsite RN as I am sure that they have one. They will reprimand the staff and make sure that he is getting the proper treatment. You have every right to express you feelings to them as a parent, and stress parental consent. Let me know how this turns out hon. God Bless, Love, aazToy2@... wrote: Okay, I am wanting everyone's opinion on this because I am trying not to be an over protective parent. Our oldest son Justen was here for the weekend, which I must say went VERY well. Anyway, he happened to mention to my nephew that the one thing that he likes better about the group home is that they let him watch R rated movies. I asked him exactly what movies he was talking about and he told us all about the movies Scary movie three and also one called Bad Santa. Now I have not seen these movies but what he described along with what some friends of mine told me was some pretty sick stuff for a 15 year old kid with serious emotional delays to be seeing. Also, he is supposed to take 11/2 mgs of risperdol at night. When they first had him start he was taking a 1 mg tablet and then they cut a second one in half. Last Monday when I took him to the med DR he changed it to a 3mg tablet so they just have to cut one pill in half and that is it. When I tried to give him his meds Sat night he argued with me for about an hour that I wasn't giving him enough and that he needed a whole one with the half one. I read the bottle and it said just what the DR had told me. SOOO I called the group home and the man that answered said that he doesn't know about the meds but that he will put a note on Justen's chart that he can't watch R rated movies. I told him that I had counted the pills and he is six short so YES the HAD been over medicating him. Also I told him that seeing how my son is 15 years old I am pretty sure that it is against the law for them to let him watch nasty movies without having parental consent which I told him they shouldn't bother asking for in the future because they wouldn't get it. Do you guys think I am over reacting? I know that I have been very emotional lately and wonder if I am making a bigger deal of this than it is.a "The LUPIES Store" Come check out our store...http://www.cafepress.com/thelupies"The LUPIES Web Page"http://www.itzarion.com/lupusgroup.html"The LUPIES online photo albums!"
