I have this happen when I eat Chinese food. I seriously suspect that

some of the 'additives' in the food contribute to the symptoms, IMO.

I learned once I was hyperT/Graves, I could not eat as I had before.

Home cooked meals work much better for me because I don't add tons of

things into the mixture. If it's cooked by somebody else, it's a crap

shoot. I've heard of people who couldn't tolerate MSG, but nothing

affects me like having Chinese Food, and this may have things like MSG

in it. Sad part is, I've always loved it? I just can't deal with the

after affects.

CAN YOU HAVE

> TEMPORARY HYPER STATES THAT ARE A LITTLE DIFFERENT FROM ONE TIME

TO

> THE NEXT

__________________________

You bet you can. It's all tied into adrenal function. A big meal or

a meal that is a stress on the system by being a bit different than

you are used to can stress the adrenals. Sugar like you would find

in chocolate is a reall adrenal stressor. When cortisol drops, you

can become temporarily hyper. This is because thyroid can't get into

tissues and will build up in the blood. It will give varying degrees

of both hyper and hypo symptoms. For, example, a pounding heart, but

feeling cold at the same time. Or, a night sweat and feeling mildly

ill. Or hyperventilation because you can't get enough oxygen into

tissues mixed with a pounding heart or the shakes. Next time you

have one of these events just take your temperature and pulse. I'll

bet you will find that temperature is very low, like 96 degrees, but

your pulse is high. This means that thyroid is not getting into

tissues to generate heat, but is too high in the blood affecting the

heart and muslces, which are very sensitive to thyroid.

I have low adrenal function mostly in the morning and this gives me

hyper symptoms for a few hours. Then it clears up by afternoon and

everything is normal. The body is very dynamic.

,

The longer I stayed hypothyroid the more different foods affected me

in a bad way. Sometimes if I eat the wrong thing, or too many

preservatives, or packaged food, I get short of breath, fast pulse,

etc. Hyper doesn't seem possible on 1/2 grain of Armour a day unless

you're having terrible resistance to thyroid hormone.
