Guest guest
Hello to all, Age range- 46 Male/Female- Female What are the symtoms? I first started noticing my rib area was sore to touch and I would feel brusied if I bumped into any thing on other parts of my body. Now I have pain from head to toe. Has your illness been diagnosed? Yes Fibromyalgia How long did you suffer before you got help? A year and then it took me two years of going to doctors to find out I have fibromyalgia. Is there a time that you can remember when it started? It was so gradual I can not pick one time. Now knowing the symtoms I have had it for at least 16 years. Some of us have found lack of exercise we are overwieght. Have you found this to be a problem also? Yes I always fought 10 pounds most of my life but when I turned 30 I blew up like a ballon and that is when I feel the effects started to hit me. I would eat more subconsciously thinking it would give me more energy to get through the day. Wrong! I am still overwieght. Are you on disablility? No What have you found that helps ease the pain, warm baths, medications, etc? HOT showers, non impact exercise. Do you have sleep problems? How do you deal with it? Yes and I am on Clonazepam right now, about ever 12 to 18 months I have to switch to Ambien or other meds because I build up resistance to them. Around and around the circle I go. Do you have family that understands your illness? Yes I am very lucky and my husband is very understanding. My children are 23 and 20 but have grown up with me having fibro and are very good about my good days and bad. Now I have a grandson and I am sure he will learn to. Some have found certain foods causes problems with CFS or Fibro, have you? I try to stay away from caffine and chocolate they bother my irratible bowels (part of fibro). What type of Doctor have you found that has helped you the most? I was diagnosed by a rheumatologist and he has always treated me. His advise is to work on losing weight because the weight is harder on the muscles and exercise in moderation so you do not lose muscle tone and flexablity. He gives me my meds for sleeping. In the past I have been on anti-depressants, but I felt I was sinking in a whole and could not get out. Got off them and felt more like my old self.
