Improving Access to Services for Persons with Limited English Prof...

The report contains some very helpful recommendations:

- The report directly connects medical errors and pt. satisfaction issues (IOM - Report "To Err is Human")with providing LEP services (pp. 20-21).

- The report is quite positive about the CLAS standards (p. 43).

- In the cost analysis section beginning on p. 50, CHCs are highlighted. An annual estimate of $11.5 M to provide CLAS services is given.

- Page 58 begins a very cogent argument that results in a suggestion for bulk purchasing of LEP services (telephone and other) to reduce costs to CHCs and the role of Govt to assure uniformity of LEP services(facilitating availability & access along with stimulating the increased supply & quality of these services (including identifying best practices and enforcing consistency).

The first file is the press release.

The second file is the entire report.
