Guest guest
Hi Canasa A T3 Resin Uptake or Thyroid Uptake is a test that confuses doctors, nurses, and patients. First, this is not a thyroid test, but a test on the proteins (Thyroid Binding Globulins) that carry thyroid around in your blood stream and is expressed as a percentage. When this is high, it indicates you do not have a lot of thyroid binding proteins in your blood grabbing up thyroid hormone, it basically means much of the T3 you have is free. If your Total T3 was low this would make sense, as you'd want as much of it as possible to be free T3. The main purpose of this test is to approximate Free T4 through a calculation using the T4 and T3 uptake scores It's an old test that is basically useless now that FT4 and FT3 tests are so readily available. Guest guest
Ahh good stuff, and that is what the Doc told me that this test was basically old school. Thanks, Canasa > > > > Okay you thyroid guru's what does a higher then normal T3 uptake > > mean if anything? > > > > Thanks. Or for that matter what is the t3 uptake?
