Carolyn wrote on behalf of a friend in Springfield, MO: "Can anyone provide names of a decent PCP, Internal Med. Dr., GI Dr., and perhaps endocrinologist?"Sorry. I don't have anyone to recommend. I live in central MO halfway between Kansas City and St. Louis. Springfield, MO is 170 miles southwest of here. We have the U of MO med school here, but I would not go there.Your friend's seizure activity might be because of medicines she is on. If it continues, she should see a neurologist who will probably order tests like an EEG or MRI. I am seeing a GI doctor, internist, and neurologist. Hopefully I won't have to see the neurologist again. I am continuing with Keppra a well-known anti-seizure drug even though Keppra alone and in combination with other anti-seizure drugs did not work for me. What seems to work is keeping my stress level down and taking Xifaxan to control excess ammonia caused by liver disease. Excess ammonia causes brain fog (hepatic encephalopathy) which made me think I was in the early stages of Alzheimer's until my GI doctor said my confusion and memory problems were liver-related.Margie in MOPSC DX 3/99
