Guest guest
Hi ; Sorry to hear about your finger and nail problems; I honestly don't know whether they could be liver related. It might be good to visit a dermatologist to see if they can help you with them. The skin splitting away from the nails sounds very painful. Best wishes, Dave (father of (23); PSC 07/03; UC 08/03)
Guest guest
It sounds like you might be experiencing nail clubbing, which can be related to liver disease and IBD. The two links below explain the disorder. The second one gives a pretty good picture of the disorder. I am note sure it the skin splittting would be related to this or even if this is what you are experiencing but the sights may provide you with more information http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clubbing http://health.allrefer.com/health/clubbing-of-the-fingers-or-toes-clubbed-finger\ s.html Dawn > > A query, just recently I felt as if I haven't enough skin to cover the area between the top finger joints and finger tips - this includes my thumb. I think they are very slightly swollen, visually they don't appear swollen, but when I clench my fingers into a very light fist, (it is impossible to make a tight fist), the skin under my finger nails goes white and the top finger joint also goes white.... (OK I can see you all flexing and unflexing your fists..grin). But the worst part is that the skin where it joins the base of my finger nails is splitting away from the nail, it does heal then splits again. Would this be liver related? Tt first glance my hands look normal. >

Guest guest
Hi Dawn Thanks for taking the time to reply and finding the websites. Yes, there was an A HA moment with the second link, yes that shows just what my finger tips look like with the 'bump' below the nail. Graham's morning cup of coffee was rudely interupted by me grabbing his hands to compare to see what his 'normal' finger tips looked like. I have an appointment with my GP next week, so will be interested to see what he says. Thanks again > > > It sounds like you might be experiencing nail clubbing, which can be related to liver disease and IBD. > > > http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clubbing > > > http://health.allrefer.com/health/clubbing-of-the-fingers-or-toes-clubbed-finger\ s.html > > Dawn
