Guest guest
Bobby - Gabapentin (neurontin) can help reduce the pain from shingles. It has to be titrated up, as most people will be too sleepy if started at a high dose. might benefit from higher dose of his pain medication - balancing getting too sleepy, with pain relief. Some folks have to see or talk to the doctor fairly frequently to adjust pain meds, as shingles can be extremely painful. Best of luck to you both. Thanks. > ===================== How truly horrific for him!! When my Dad had shingles, my Mom put vitamin E oil on all the lesions twice a day. Papa said it really helped a lot with the discomfort and it certainly healed the lesions a lot faster than the dr. was expecting. Since then, we've recommended this to others who have each reported similar results. One word of caution -- a lot of manufacturers put out a vitamin E oil that is pretty thin and runny and doesn't seem to work very well for this. Be sure that the one you get is very thick. (Nature's Bounty brand is thin and runny. Sundown Naturals is good and thick!) We've never had any problem with it staining clothing or bed linens.
