Guest guest
,PSC 5-07, is in end stage cirrohsis and now has shingles across his right side, waist, right groin and right inside thigh. Infectous disease doc put him on Acyclovir. Besides all of the PSC meds, he is on Oxycodone and Dilaudid. He is miserable. Any suggestions for me to make him more comfortable...I am lost. Thanks. Thanks. > ===================== How truly horrific for him!! When my Dad had shingles, my Mom put vitamin E oil on all the lesions twice a day. Papa said it really helped a lot with the discomfort and it certainly healed the lesions a lot faster than the dr. was expecting. Since then, we've recommended this to others who have each reported similar results. One word of caution -- a lot of manufacturers put out a vitamin E oil that is pretty thin and runny and doesn't seem to work very well for this. Be sure that the one you get is very thick. (Nature's Bounty brand is thin and runny. Sundown Naturals is good and thick!) We've never had any problem with it staining clothing or bed linens.
