Guest guest
I also have pain in my chest. Mine starts in the back, on each side of my spine and it radiates through my rib cage to my breast bone. I have problems breathing and it does hurt to breath. I wouldn't wish this on anyone. ~ skyangel35 skyangel35@...> wrote: ---Hi all, I to have breast/chest pain. Guest guest
I get this too and boy does it hurt...just breathing can be painful. This is definitely one of the trigger points most people have. It can be scarey at first because the first thought is that you're having heart problems. The only thing that helps me is pain medication and a heating pad. Guest guest
I forgot to say that I also get pain in my armpits. The muscles hurt deep down. Very umcomfortable. I'm happy to say that I tend to get better when the weather warms up and I've only had to take 2 pain pills in the last week - yippie!!! Of course all my other " friends " are acting up. I am having some urindynamics done and I'm seeing a gastro doctor. I'm so sick of going to the doctor!!! anne chest/breast pain Hi all, I'm wondering if any of you experience chest pain. Guest guest
Hi all, Have been following this thread, as I have had chest pain all my life -- at times over the sternum and many other times near the bottom of the left breast and slightly to the left. All I know for sure about mine is that it is not a heart problem, altho I do have mitral valve prolapse. It would be interesting to discover if MVP is common with Fibro, and how many more have chest pain over the sternum. The other thing I've noticed is that whenever the pain goes to the underarms, I can usually expect to get an intestinal disturbance in the middle of the night. Whenever that happens, the sooner I heave, the faster it passes. That's the only thing that helps in those cases. The other thought that came to mind is ... what about hyperventilating. Since anxiety seems to be a common problem here, maybe much of the chest pain derives from breathing wrong and temporarily messing up the rhythm. When that happens, breathing into a bag seems to help. If I don't catch it soon enough, tho, my whole chest hurts for days. On the subject of Effexor XR, I'd be lost without it. Have had real good luck, except that (as with most antidepressants) the body gradually builds up a tolerance that requires higher and higher doses. I don't get much pain any more, and the dr. says it's probably because of effexor, as it often helps fibo pain. Taking glucosamine chondroitin helps pain, and magnesium malate (in conjunction with calcium) takes care of the irregular heart beats and skips. Being electrolytes, they stabilze the electrical rhythm. Sounds like our bodies get really whacked out. Bev
Guest guest
The reason I was DX with FMS was because of my severe chest, sternum, and rib pain. I am still finding it hard to take a deep breath due to my continuous chest and sternum pain, but it's getting a little better. I thought I was the only one, since many on this list seem to have all around pain (mostly). The rest of my body aches, but my chest and ribs the worst. I have had fibro for a number of years...........I also have had the chest pain since March. was in I C U for it but all tests were good. The cardiologist has given me Amitripiline for the chest pain he knows it can be used for depression but he said it also takes away chest pain, he started me at 5 mg and every 3 days I doubled it until I have no pain I am taking 50 mg at night I have no pain it is wonderful. The Dr said it would be between 40 and 100 mgs I am in the middle...............I go back and see him on the 20th of June and will let you know how I am and what he suggests..............I also found Nitro did help with the pain as it relaxes the muscles. Guest guest
After I was taken to the ER for such severe chest pain, my DR gave me a RX for Amitriptyline also. I take 10mg at night (if I'm not home alone with my 2 year old son) and sleep soundly for 6 hours. The only drawback is I wake up groggy. I've also heard that muscle relaxants aren't the greatest thing for FM patients.....something to do with the muscles not rebuilding themselves properly due to the over-relaxation. Is there any truth to this?

Guest guest
Hello everyone! I have also had this problem with chest pain across my entire chest through my back, feels like your having a heart attack. I saw my doctor about this, and even ended up in the emergency room one night it was so bad, it hurt to breath! My doc dx'd this condition as costochondritis. You may want to ask your doctor's about this and see what they say, also if you pushed on areas across my chest it was very sore and hurt to touch. If you go to the following link, you'll have to paste it because I didn't get it right, it will explain about this condition and how people with fms can end up with this! http://www.focusonarthritis.com/script/main/art.asparticlekey=6171&rd= 1 Wishing for a pain free day, Dana > Hello my name is Anne also (soft smile).
