Guest guest
Age range: 28 Male/female: Female What are the symptoms? Everything: full body pain, ear aches, dizziness, nausea, numbness, tingling, stabbing pains, can't sleep, exhaustion, can't concentrate, you name it, it feels like I have it. Has you illness been diagnosed? Yes. How long did you suffer before you got help? I was finally diagnosed a year and a half ago, but I have been in constant pain for over four years. Is there a time that you can remember when it started? It started right after I had my wisdom teeth removed; the doctor messed up with the stitching & I started with TMJ; then the pain moved to my neck and my shoulders. I can't remember my life anymore without pain. Some of us have found lack of exercise we are overweight. Have you found this to be a problem also? I'm lucky. I haven't gained any weight; in fact, I'm underweight. Sometimes I'm starving and eat like a pig. Other times, I can go all day and only eat a sandwich because I have no appetite, and nothing appeals to me. Are you on disability? No, but I don't work. Pain and depression has been a tough battle. What have you found that helps ease the pain, warm baths, medications etc.? Warm baths. I won't take meds because I'm trying to get pregnant and they had too many bad side effects (falling sideways when I stood up; crashing after they wore off, that kind of thing). One therapist taught me to roll up a towel and lie it under my spine. Lie down for a half an hour. Sometimes it works. Stretches. I can't walk or stand or sit long but hopefully someday soon... Do you have sleep problems? How do you deal with it? Yes. I get up every hour during the night, but my new therapist has taught me to sleep with a pillow between my legs when I'm on my side or under them when I'm on my back. It makes a big difference. I nap a lot, too, because I'm on new therapy and exhausted. Do you have family that understands your illness? My husband seems to be the only one who really does. He goes to every appointment with me (has to, or I'm too nervous to go), and he helps me around the house. Without him, I probably wouldn't have any hope. Some have found certain foods causes problems with CFS or Fibro, have you? I don't think so. What type of Doctor have you found that has helped you the most? I just started myotherapy. In my second week now, and it's painless. I just hope it works long-term! ---------------------------------
