Guest guest
Hi folks...thought I would drop a line to let you all know why I did not sign on this afternoon...Caution...you will laugh. My daughter fell asleep after lunch (by some miracle, as she never naps). I deceided to run out to the pool to catch some rays, so I locked her bedroom door. I got out to the pool, grabbed a raft and dozed off for about 15 minutes. Something woke me up. It did not alarm me, and I was still in a sort of " daze " . So, I got out of the pool and sat on the deck. I picked up my book and started reading. I then heard this grunting noise. I look off of the deck, and to my surprise a VERY LARGE black bear is lying in my daughter's plastic kiddie pool about 25 feet from me. So, I use MY THEORY...I yell at the bear... He slowly sits up on his hind legs and THE SOB YELLS BACK AT ME. So, I sat down like a little b**ch and I shut up. He layed back down and rolled around on his back like I did not exist in his world. He then decieded to go onto my back porch. He picked up some kids toys and shook them. He then made his way into my garage through the open door and rustled through my recycle cans. Since I rinse all of my recycles, he found nothing good. So, he started throwing the empties at my car. At that time, I did not know what he was doing, since I was outside. The door from the garage to the laundry room just pushes open...So my fear kicked in...Luckily, my dog is a little baby, and must have thought it was me in the garage (aka-outside without him). So, he started barking and chased the bear out of the garage...ATTACK SHIH-TZU. Thank goodness the bear did not know he only weighs 14 lbs. Thank goodness Giz did not know it was a bear....He would have probably had a heart attack. So, the bear ran back out, and I thought he was going to leave...instead, he got sidetracked at my daughter's swing...He could swing it back and forth...He had a bunch of fun...At one point, the way he was sitting there, he looked like he was sitting on it...It took everything in me not to laugh out loud. He did that for awhile, then back to the pool, and then, back in the house...This went on for an hour and a half. FINALLY...He decieded to go around the side of the house. I made a break for the house...I MADE IT!!! I don't even think my feet touched the ground! I Locked the door behind me! So, I called the game warden since he was going toward the road. Instead, he dumped my burn barrell...Don't know what he thought he was going to find in there! They showed up about 20 minutes later...Then the reporters...It's a bear...like it was some huge event... He was close enough that I could read his ear tag numbers. He was a 450 lb black bear. According to the police, people have been feeding him...He was pretty well domesticated. They offered to trap and remove him from the area AGAIN...I refused. What is the point? He just comes back. He lives here...he was thirsty...there is no water in the woods anymore, and the mountain fire that we had last week is still burning and has taken 160 acres of his home. What is he to do. Who can blame him for being thirsty and needing a bath?! So, to all who are bent on being eaten by a bear...it did not happen. There are no fruits and berries left here...everything is dry. Although he bawled me out, he did not come after me, and had no intention of it. I also think it is a shame to see people amusing themselves by feeding these creatures...I have a bad feeling that maybe next time this bold bear will wander into the wrong yard. So, today, my Animal Rights theories bit me in the butt, so to speak...The pool stinks and is full of scratches...The kid's swing is full of scratches. My garage is trashed! My dog is feeling violated and is pissed off because to him, the whole yard just smells HORRIBLE! LOL Missy
