Guest guest
, It took me 16 months to get SS benefits. I was denied 3 times before I was finally approved. I do believe this is standard proceedure for them unless you can absolutely prove you cannot work (like in my dad's case where he had a stroke and was clearly unable to work. Except when my mom told me that when he went to see one of SS's docs, the doc was asking my dad to stand and walk, and because of the stroke, he was not able to) My final go round, was before a judge where she asked questions (she was a real B*%#H, very cold. They also had a vocational advisor, to tell me what type of work I could do) It was a very stressful situation, I was shaking badly (I had been having tremors a few months before that appointment and stress made the tremors worse) I survived the ordeal and it was another 4 months before I got my final favorable answer. Unfortunately, SS has to do this - as it weeds out the people who DON'T need benefits - too many people cheating the system, which is pathetic. Don't feel any of the rejections are personal. I know this to happen to MANY people who apply - I belong to a FMS support group - a great group of women who put me in touch with several professionals that have helped me a great deal. The SS docs' are useless. I had to see a psychiatrist from SS, and he was a real piece of work. He asked me questions that were so bizzare, and I felt it was a waste of time. Right now I'm on pins and needles, waiting for word from my insurance co. The company I worked for had great benefits, and I have Long term disability in addition to SS. Well, its been 3 years on LTD and they are reviewing my case (to make sure I am unable to do ANY type of work) If they deny my benefits, I will have to find a job and that has me not only stressed out, but in a panic. Just the thought of trying to work on a regular basis freaks me out. I could not exist on just my SS benefits - they just are not enough to live (I live in the Chicago area - which isn't exactly cheap) Good luck and don't give up. It takes time, you just have to be patient. Koala-t hugs, Cathy

Guest guest
This sounds promising . I wish you luck! > Dear Friends, > I had another SS doc appt this morning; and although, I don't > have much faith in " the system " (as this is my second go-around for > my benefits), I did go (again) armed with my pain/symptoms/meds > journal, and this doctor not only acted interested, he also TOOK the > copy to, as he said, " to assist [him] with the diagnosis letter to > the Social Security Admin. " . > During my first round w/ a SS doc, not only did he act like I > was out for HIS wallet, he was also very insulting (gee--like I CAN'T > record my on info!!) and did not accept it. > But, I would still suggest to always go " armed " to any and all > doctor visits! For me, it helps so much because I'm about done to two > working brain cells!! > > Wishing you all well (it seems that most of us are really suffering > this Spring),
