2004 National Farmworker Health Conference - Call for abstracts.

Dear Colleagues,

We invite you to submit abstracts for educational sessions at the 2004 National

Farmworker Health Conference. The conference will be held April 29 -May 1, 2004

in Miami, Florida at the Marriott Biscayne Bay Hotel and Marina. The deadline

for call for abstracts has been extended to December 20, 2003.

The conference call for abstracts form is attached and can be downloaded at the

NACHC website, www.nachc.com <http://www.nachc.com> in the events and meetings

conferences section. It can be found under the listing for the 2004 National

Farmworker Health Conference. It also can be accessed from the homepage under

the " Whats News " section.

The 2004 National Farmworker Health Conference features Advocacy,

Administrative/Management/Operational, Programs, and Clinical tracks. Topics

addressing current issues that affect farmworker populations and/or the migrant

health programs will be highly regarded.

To assist you, as you think about an abstract for the national conference, we

would recommend topics that address the following elements:

* Identification/verification of needs - Innovative community based

approaches that leverage technology and assist with identifying farmworker

needs.

* Community development - working with the community to identify

partnerships, resources, and leadership opportunities.

* Board development - effective board development and health center leaders

as role models/mentors

* Workforce development - strategies for recruitment, retention and training

of clinical, management and information systems professional

* Operating Systems - development of clinical and administrative tracking

systems for at risk populations, financing, and staffing. Application of new

technologies. MIS Networks.

* Capital infrastructure - leveraging resources for infrastructure

development

* Outreach to special populations - use of promotoras, coordination with

volunteer agencies, successful models.

* Leveraging Resources - state, public/private partnerships.

* Assistance - working together for policy and program development

* Reducing health disparities

If you are interested in presenting a topic we welcome your submission.

This year's National Farmworker Health Conference will be an excellent

opportunity to present and hear from health centers on how they are looking at

growth and strategies for reducing health disparities among our farmworker

populations. We look forward to your abstract submissions and a successful

conference.

We ask that you share this call for abstracts with your respective staff and

colleagues that may also be interested in presenting at the 2004 National
