Guest guest
You ladies are so wise about thyroid issues. I finally saw an internist last week. She did give me a prescription for Armour thyroid. She knew I was determined to stick with it, I told her I was self-medicating with the generic Armour. She thought that was a little out there. Well anyway she ran about $300 worth of bloodwork to find out why I'm still having some symptoms..mainly fatigue... Well guess what the cause appears to be? The exact thing Janie and some others had told me to get checked! My iron was 21 with a range of 40-200 and my ferritin was 6.4 with a range of 15-150. The only reason she checked that is my family has a history of too much iron, a thing called hemachromatosis. I guess I don't have to worry about that. Now I need to know if anyone has a good iron supplement to recommend. She didn't suggest anything. I only received a letter from her office telling me to start taking iron. Her letter also stated that I'm 'significantly hyperthyroid' and to call her office to talk about switching back to Synthroid or Levoxyl with Cytomel... not a chance that I'm going back to that. Besides, she gave me a prescription for a year of Armour... and I know where to get it on my own if need be! My TSH was .06 and my FT4 was 1 with range of .8 to 1.8. And of course no FT3 was done. I don't send a lot of messages, but this group has been so helpful to me! You are so knowledgeable and I appreciate your sharing it with the rest of us. Any iron suggestiions would be appreciated.
