Who is your doctor? My brother sees to Dr. Ziebert. He is FANTASTIC. He really went above and beyond to help my brother from UC attacks, to pre-PSC days, to PSC diagnosis through transplant. There will never be enough kind words for how much he helped. I would recommend him to anyone! in TexasBrother, , 32, PSC, Livertx 12-7-07 and doing fantastically well (liver wise anyways)Subject: Looking for a "Liver Guru" in TexasTo: Date: Monday, January 26, 2009, 11:23 AM

Thank you for the tips on the Methodist Hospital in San , and

Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. Can anybody refer anyone a

little more specific? We aren't getting what we need out of our

current doctor. He tends to take a condescending role when we ask

questions or push concerns and we want to move on. We are near the

Austin area in Texas and are not opposed to traveling to S.A. or

Dallas for our quarterly visits as long as we love our doctor!

Ideally, we'd love to find one associated with PSC studies! Does

anybody know if such an individual exists?

Thank you,

I'm sorry you're experiencing frustration with your current doctor. Our son is seen for PSC/UC at Texas Children's in Houston. I'm not sure if you would want to travel that far, but I could ask our hepatologist who he would recommend at the medical center in Houston as a non-pediatric hep. with experience in PSC. I'd be happy to ask, just let me know!

Thanks,

Becky, mom to Carson 7yrs.

Ken saw Dr

at Baylor in Dallas. He specializes in Gastroenterology and Transplant

Hepatology. He saw Ken prior to

evaluation, through listing and up until transplant. He went to Medical School in Minnesota, did

his Fellowship at The National Institute of Health and his Residency at Mayo.

There are 8 doctors (all great) on his team. Here is their web site - http://www.liverconsultants.com/ The picture was taken on the 17th

floor of Baylor transplant hospital - .

The only piece of advice I would give anyone is this –

When you do chose a new doctor, make sure he/she is affiliated with the

transplant hospital of your choice, (better yet, a part of the actual

transplant team). This makes all the

difference in the world in your ongoing care. Listing is easier, getting proper care

is easier, they always consult with the transplant team before making any major

decisions. It’s just makes

your life easier and Healthier! HTH

I see Dr O'Leary at Baylor. Love her. She's out right now for maternity leave, but will be back soon. Have been very impressed with all the doctors i've talked to at Baylor.

If at

all possible, I definitely agree. My hep specialist (O’Leary) is also part of

the same liver consultant group at Baylor. With her referring me for

evaluation, half the battle was won. It was just assumed that I needed to be on

the list. I still had to talk to the social worker, etc. but it almost felt

like a formality.
