Guest guest
Since there seems to be such variations as to the effectiveness/side effects of various brands of synthetic T4, I'm wondering if this is true regarding T3? Any ideas? Also, for those self-treating, what brand name of T3 do you take? I've seen it called different things which is why I'm asking these questions! Thanks! Guest guest
Hi . The most well known brand of T3 is Cytomel, and it appears to work fine. But I think there may be some confusion based on the questions you asked? T4, which is a storage hormone, is inadequate as treatment because you need more than T4! The thyroid gives you T4, T3, T2, T1 and calcitonin, which is also what Armour or other natural thyroid products give you.......thus the reason it's a far superior treatment. Additionally, though T3-only treatment can produce good results--- you once again miss out on the full spectrum mentioned above. The one area that folks will add T3 to Armour is when they have gotten up to 5-6 grains of Armour and STILL have hypo symptoms. Some folks add T4 to Armour, but again, they can often get the same results by upping their Armour, which is 80% T4.
