Guest guest
Hi Cindy, I’m wondering if you have ever tried Melatonin for sleep? Hope you’re doing OK. Guest guest
Barb, I haven't. My first liver doctor in town (Midland), gave me Ambien. Then, when I went to Henry Ford Hospital my Hep said, sure I will continue to prescribe, but after transplant, no more Ambien. I went from regular ambien 5 mg dose to Ambien CR 6.25 and stayed on that for about 3 years. Now I am taking Ambien CR 12.50. Now though, my prescription insurance says they won't cover Ambien any more. I would have to pay for the whole rx myself....about $300.00 every 3 months. Unless of course, I jump through hoops and file a hearing, etc, etc., which in the end could still result in denial and they would send out the rx and I would get stuck with the bill. I did call my Transplant coordinator last Thursday to see if there was another med I could take as a generic. But she was going to talk with my doctor and get back and hasn't yet. (she normally stays on top of things, but she knew I was having all my teeth pulled and dentures put in, so she may be waiting for me to be able to 'talk'. Uppers are ok, lowers are a son of a you know what. Eating has been the biggest challenge, then talking. I'm still eating jello, pudding, runny oatmeal, broth. But last night I ventured to make goulash using tomato juice, and the most finely chopped up hamburger and those teenie-tiny noodles that I can just swallow...it felt so good to have some substance in my belly. I'm going to meet my daughter for lunch at a restaurant....my first outing and eating experience in public. I told her we will have to sit in a secluded spot so I don't embarass her or make a fool of myself. Cindy Baudoux-Northrup
