Guest guest
Hi to all, old and new! Just wanted to welcome all the new names, and let all of my old friends know that I am still hanging around, and reading the emails! I have had alot on my plate in the past 2 months, and I have not had as much time and opportunity to chime in. We lost our 16 year old kitty over 2 months ago. It was a very hard time for all. After alot of torn heartstrings I came across a kitten who needed a home and he fit in well with our family~He has been with us a few days and WOW...I miss the old cat with no spunk! LOL This little guy is a handfull and no food is sacred! My medical life has been put on the back burner, as to persue my daughters issues further. It has become a full time job for me. For those who do not know, my daughter is autistic. She is 4, and we are still struggling to get her the help that she needs to assist in learning life skills. She gets some therapy, but not enough, and we had to fill out for Medical Assistance for disabled children, which in our state is not income based. Therefore, if your child is disabled, you have to have it to get services, as the insurance companies do not cover it here. I see my doc in New York in September to discuss another round of brain surgery and a titanium plate and shunt insertion. My spinal tumors are all alive and well, and I am considering naming them since they don't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon! LOL I am ignoring it all for the summer, so that I can just concentrate on Jocie and all that is going on with her! On the brighter side...My doc just gave me a new cream to try. He tells me that it is something that they just started to compound. So, if I rub it on my back, it will make it totally numb where I put it...use it wisely. I think I will try in my husband's toe first to see how long the effects last...LOL I will let you know how it works out. I also got the pain meds upped again, but I have to be half in the bag to put it down my throat! Well, gotta fly. I will try to pop in again soon! It is certainly all worth it in the end but they sure don't make it easy for you at all. I have an almost 7 year old who is autistic and we got Medicaid (and the services that go with it) a couple of years ago. I know where you're at in that area, that's for sure. Also...don't know if you're aware of it or not or if it matters in your daughter's case but if she is not potty trained Medicaid will pay for diapers for an over 4 year old with a disability...this alone was worth all of the headaches of applying for us as Brocky has yet to figure out the potty thing Or the talking thing or the whole communication thing in general ANYWAY...just wanted to let you know you're not alone in the autism and fibro situation and wish you the best. Missy I don't know!!! When you figure it out let me know! I take Brocky to the potty EVERY 30 minutes and he pees almost every time but he also pees in between visits to the pot I am NOT taking him in every 15 minutes! Of course he saves his dirty business for when he has a diaper on (at bedtime and when we go places) because he does not want to do it in the potty Anyway...be sure to check in to the diaper business being paid by Medicaid when you get it...I believe they do pullups too. You DO have to have a letter of medical necessity and a prescription from the doctor for them but I wouldn't think that should be a problem...it wasn't for me. Talk to you later! I Missy, Pleaseeeeeee tell us the name of the cream you're trying!!! I know how hard it must be to put your pain 'on the back burner', but you sound like the type of Mom that does it gladly. Please know that you have our prayers. Your situation is a reminder to me that things could be worse. Take care. Gentle Hugs Deb
Guest guest
I must add that I have not yet actually tried " The Cream " yet, but my pain management guy is GOOD! There is no " name " for the cream. I have to go to a REAL pharmacy and have it compounded...Woe is me. But, here are the ingredients...Ketoprofen 10%, Xylocaine 10%, Neurontin 5%...Hey, that does not addup to 100, am I getting ripped off? LOL. This is my best guess on the ingredients, as it is a doc's handwriting you know! > Pleaseeeeeee tell us the name of the cream you're trying!!! >

Guest guest
I will try to keep this short, as I am trying to get some stuff done around the house. EVERYONE is welcome here. However, no-one has found a cure for fibro. Making it livable for yourself is in the eye of the beholder. I contracted fibro after brain surgery. I eat no meat, veggie diet only. I exercise daily push ups (not the girlie kind!) sit ups, stepper, walking, etc. I get up at 6 am, and go to bed around midnight. I have an autistic 4 year old who keeps me going sun up to sun down. Yes, I still have pain. This is a support group where people from all over can come and vent and discuss their problems and or achievements. We are all different. Please do not expect to join this group and have everyone agree with you all of the time, because that will not happen...EVER. When someone does disagree with you, take it like a mature adult, and realize that we are different people with different needs, wants, and health. It does not mean that they hate you. This is a free country, and people are allowed to disagree with one another. A good starting point, is that IBS effects us all differently. Many people cannot tolerate lots of fruits and veggies, especially those with seeds. I, on the other end of the spectrum cannot tolerate life without it. Everyone is unique. I would never tell anyone to " not make good health choices " . But, the choices that they make are their own. I have pushed my resistance for exercise for me, and me alone. It is a choice I have made, and alot of people on here will tell me that they cannot do that. I believe them, I drop the subject...It is their choice. Lastly, then I will leave you all alone...Jumping right into a raw fruit/veggie diet is very extreme. With an animal rights background, this would achieve my perfect world! I would love to see everyone in the world eat this way. But, I also feel that it would do more harm then good for some on this list. Taking it slow is one thing, Jumping in with both feet is another. I will not be held responsible for anyone who chooses to make this drastic a change and it backfires. What happens then? Do you say I could not do it, it did not work for me....or worse? Do you quit all together? It is my belief that taking baby steps into something like this will lead you into the right direction. Getting healthy is a positive change, but doing it overnight is not. Make yourself a chart of something new you will try every day. That would seem to me to be more sensible. And, consult your doctor first. It took me over a year to completely go veg, and I gradually felt better every day for that year. I love this list. I love exchanging ideas and finding things that really work. I also love that people can come here just to dump off a bad day if need be. I will not have anyone harrassing, pushing, or proding them into doing something they have no interest in, or they are not prepared to do, let alone follow through with. That only ends in failure, and causes more harm to self esteem. OK...I think I am done. Again, I apologize to anyone that I have upset. Life isn't all peaches and Tofu. We all have it rough, and I don't like to annoy anyone who is already in pain, thus annoyed already. Have a good afternoon. I am planting a small scale operation of Swiss Chard to see if I can get it to come up before the frost hits. LOL Missy

Guest guest
I also forgot to remind that religion and politics are not allowed on this bored. The board is not set up for this and we have many people from many religious backgrounds here. Please respect this and keep your thoughts of your higher power to yourself when posting here. There are many groups set up for discussion on this topic, please leave it there. I have my own religious beliefs, and if I can keep it off of this board so can everyone else.
