Guest guest
isn't feeling so well today. He's been in some pain and had a fever. They started giving him a pain pill that has a little bit of Tylenol in it. His insulin level is still on the higher side but he's supposed to get off the insulin drip soon and then will only have to have his blood sugar checked every 4 hours and will be on a long acting insulin shot until his blood sugar gets and stays normal. The doctor also said that they will be taking him off of the PCA pump within the next day as well. At that point he'll just get pain meds every 4 hours. His post transplant coordinator was just in to see us a few minutes ago and wants us to attend a discharge class tomorrow at 10 am. She said he MAY be discharged this weekend! I'm not so sure I'm ready for him to be discharged. I'm glad the doctors feel he is doing so well but here I don't have to worry about him because I know he's being taken care of. I really don't have to do much besides entertain him and keep him company. Once he's home, we have to monitor his meds and keep him healthy. Hopefully I'll feel better about it after the class tomorrow. Thank you to everyone who has sent emails, phone calls and signed the guest book. When he's feeling up to it I'll have him read some of the messages I've gotten. It is comforting to know we have such great friends, some of whom we've never even met.
