My father in laws immune system was affected by the prednisone and he contracted lysteria about a month and a half ago. People on prednisone should avoid raw lunch meats, wash fruits and vegies, and avoid unpasturized products due to the risk of getting lysteria. His doctor did not warn him of this. Generally healthy people just get flu like symptoms if they come in contact with lysteria. He got blood poisoning and meningitis because it just took over. It also makes pregnant women miscarry but does not affect the mother in a serious way.
