Hi Morningside and others,

I agree with morningside. We are here to learn all we can, and try all we

can. We are all big boys and girls. We can sift through sales pictches and

links without it being a big deal. If it gets to be too much, that's why we

have a delete key. I read through one of the explanations about the links and

it's just silly. We can NOT get a virus just from opening an email that has a

link in it. We can ONLY get a virus from downloading an attatchment. I have

been on many lists for various reasons and I have been online since the

beginning of the internet world. I have never caught any viruses in my computer.

I do NOT open attatchments from people I don't know or trust. If I do want to

open an attatchment from someone that I don't know well on one of these lists, I

go into yahoo and view the pics from the yahoo website. Then the pics are being

opened on their computer and not my computer. I am not downloading anything so I

don't get a virus. All the people running around online telling us to beware of

viruses are just causing undo panic. Sure email viruses do exhist, but they are

always transferred from one computer to the next by downloading a specific

infected file. We are not downloading anything just by reading the text part of

an email. I wish I had a nickle for every time I tried to explain this to my

husband. :)

If we are not supposed to put links through on this list then so be it. It

really doesn't matter to me one way or the other. If everyone is going to argue

about it I may just unsub and look for a list that is not full of rules. There

are many lists out there with no rules at all and they seem to run smoother

because people aren't all caught up in bickering about the rules.

This is not to say that I want to be inundated with sales pitches either. I

have belonged to many companies that sold vitamins. Every company has their

reasons for why they believe their vitamin is worth the high cost and why their

vitamins work while most others don't. Most of these companies want to convince

us that the other over the counter vitamins we buy just don't work and are

passed through our systems whole. Why not just let people have a signature line

or 2 or 3 sig. lines so that we can choose if we want to ask them for more

information?

Personally I want links to good sites. I joined this group because I want

to get armed with all the facts I can about this illness. I thought I was going

crazy for years and I never understood why I was so plauged with annoying

illnesses. It's been hard to be always sick and never outwardly sick. To be

considered healthy by the doctors has been an annoyance to me. If I am so

healthy why do I feel so lousy? Wow that sounds like the title of a book

doesn't it! LOL It feels good to finally have some information that just may

explain everything. To imagine that all my problems could be tied to one

illness. I firmly believe that there is a common thread and that there is a

pathological reason for all of this. Just because they haven't found it yet

doesn't mean it doesn't exhist. When they finally find the cause and the tests

can be done to find out who has it and who doesn't, then we will be on the verge

of a cure.

You know another thing...sorry for rambling, but I don't know if I buy this

mental attitude thing or not. I do believe that our own mental attitude can

help in any healing proccess, but... real illness exhists. How can we be

trying to get the world to stand up and recognize our symptoms as being real and

not imagined, and then buy into the concept that we can think ourselves well?

Is it in our head or not? I have read that some people believe that this

illness is a result of our not being able to cope with stress. Again, that just

sounds like another way to blame us for being sick!

Anyway I don't want to step on any toes either. If any of you are on any

Fibro lists that allow links and stuff let me know. I am not selling anything

and I am not fond of just for fun stuff or jokes dirty, religious or otherwise.

I just want to be free to pick and choose what I read without running into

useless bickering or baseless rules that cause uneeded strife.

take care

Suzi
