Hyperpigmentation & adrenal deficiency

I believe one of the classic signs of adrenal insufficiency is supposed to

be hyperpigmentation. I've had a doctor say I didn't have adrenal

insufficiency because I didn't have hyperpigmentaion. Has anyone here with

adrenal insufficiency ever had hyperpigmentation or know if it's a relevant

sign?

specifically state that the patients under discussion did not have

hyperpigmentation, even though they were eventually diagnosed as

hypocortisol. Maybe hyperpigmentation occurs only after total adrenal

failure?
