Guest guest
It took me quite awhile to get through all the postings but it was well worth it! I've just started a fibro self-help course put on by the arthritis foundation & put on by our local community center. They're using " Your Personal Guide to Living Well with Fibromyalgia " as a text. It's wonderful to meet other people who have the disease even tho' it's somewhat disheartening to hear that some folks have had it as long as 40 years! The two things I noticed when everyone was introducing themselves is that the majority of people have been diagnosed within the last 5 years and that the majority of folks were formerly excercise nuts. Maybe that's part of the cause? Take care, all, I'm off to float in the pool (it takes my mind off the pain for awhile!).

Hhhmmm...that's interesting. I know that for me, I was a high energy person who began exercising regularly in my early 20's to help release tension and stress. When I started having fibro symptoms, I was miserable because being physically active had become such a part of my life. I still try and exercise, but tension & stress management has had to be practiced more through meditation and relaxation than workouts the last several years. I have learned to " stop and smell the flowers " so to speak. If I have been given a gift through developing fibro, it has been this. My life is more peaceful now and I certainly appreciate the small things more. Ann
