Guest guest Posted February 28, 2009 Report Share Posted February 28, 2009 The surgeon came out and talked to us about an hour ago. Everything went very well. It took a little longer than usual to get the old liver out. It was HUGE and DISGUSTING! The new liver is perfect and did very well during surgery. We should be able to see him soon. One of the nurses took pictures for us. I knew he was sick but didn't realize just how sick until I saw his old liver. It was 75% larger than his new, healthy liver! The next 2 hurdles are getting him off the vent which they hope to do by morning and they'll do an ultrasound tomorrow to check the bile flow and blood flow. He is expected to do very well!
