Guest guest
Nikki, OK, honey, first things first. Lupus CAUSES all kinds of symptoms that doctors tend to separate from it as though we were a box full of separate compartments. Doesn't work that way. Each system in the body is connected to the others, and has an effect on the others. If you are experiencing pain, and fatigue, no matter what the apparent cause, in the end the root cause will be your autoimmune response to stimuli. Ibuprofen and other anti-inflammatory drugs are used to reduce inflammation of the type you say you are experiencing. They do not, as far as I can research, cause heart problems. In my case, the bleeding ulcer is causing the anemia, which is causing a lack of energy to respond aerobically to the water retention in my body. Usually, a diuretic and exercise can reduce excess fluid enough to keep the body in balance, but when you add other problems, like a significant ulcer or other disease or injury, then the body cannot respond properly and other measures must be taken...as in my case. Removing the excess fluid from my body by IV drugs is what saved my life, but the congestive heart failure was already present. The drugs I was taking did not cause it. Also, you mentioned that you are "back on Plaquenil", and that is good. Just remember that it can take up to six months to be effective, so don't give up on it too soon. Keep us posted on your progress, and have you had your husband read any of the materials available through our website? There are some good articles which explain Lupus in laymen's terms, and which can help loved ones be more understanding and patient. Good luck. Guest guest
Barb, Glad you are having a good birthday, honey. And, you're welcome. We will be going on another trip on the 6th of August, and returning on the 16th...something like that, anyway. We'll be camping out at San Simeon which is near Hearst Castle right on the southern CA coast. So, we're seeing both ends of the state this year. LOL Anyway, since I survived the trial run trip when it was just us, having another adult and some COOPERATIVE young people around should make it even easier. I'm looking forward to this trip, and catching up with my good friend, . She was Reesey's foster mama when he was a baby. I got him when he was two. I have been so fortunate in her friendship. We giggle a lot when we're together. Believe it or not, she is 64 this year, and raising her seventh batch of siblings. They are in the same age range as my boys, 12 - 16. Quite a bunch. She has a hubby, though, and he loves babies, so she takes in temporary foster babies until they have all their paperwork for their adoptions, then she gets them ready to go to their permanent homes. Very special lady. A lot like some others I could mention. So, I'll be around until the 6th or 7th, then gone for a full week. You and the other Moderators will have to hold the fort while is out of commission this time. My timing wasn't too good this trip. LOL Love you, MM

Guest guest
Barb, Hopefully, we won't be anywhere near any fires, but you are right, it can be risky further inland. We will be right on the ocean, so if there is a fire, we can always just jump in the water, I guess. LOL I'll be in touch every day until we leave, as usual...just wanted you to know what's on the agenda. Take care, honey. Love, MM

Guest guest
About your game show....they have it...in Louisiana...I used to live there...lol. So far I'm still dragging myself to work in the day. I don't have enough sick time to be " sick " ...so I'm just making the best of it and laying my head on my desk when I have to. This is just my worst flare so far...so I'm a bit scared rather than just bothered. Guess I just have to ride it out. Thanks for the humor...I need it right now. > , Well, you might try coming up with more interesting daytime TV > fare. When I was really sick > this last go round, I figured out that the only thing they haven't done is a > game show where you spin > the wheel and get pregnant. Maybe you can figure out something better? > Loving hugs, MM
