Just for a frame of reference let me tell you what our 24 hours has been

like.....the attending

physician told us at 4:45 pm yesterday that he was listed. At 5:45 am this

morning I was

jolted out of bed by a phone call from Chris's nurse telling me they had a liver

for him and

that I needed to be here by 9. Skylar (our 9 year old) and I got ready and

headed down here.

Other family members started showing up and they told us the surgeons had

already done 2

liver transplants this morning and needed to rest and it'd be closer to 1. One

of the surgeons

examined him and said they were harvesting the donor liver around 1, and it'd be

here about

4. At that point they would examine the liver to make sure it's healthy and the

right size. At 4

his nurse told us the liver was good. We shouted hooray and cried. :) At

4:30 they came

to get him to take him to OR. Our family came to the waiting room and I went

back with him

until the OR nurse came to get him. It's now a little after 6 and we haven't

heard any updates

yet. Their average surgery time is 3 hours. They did one this morning in 2 1/2!

I'm telling you

guys, this place is awesome! They have people come here from all over the world.

I cannot

say enough about the doctors, surgeons nurses and everyone else here! I am ready

to put the

words PSC OUT of my vocabulary!

And for those who have not been where we are yet, there is hope. And although it

seems

scary, by the time you get sick enough to need a transplant, you and your loved

ones will

welcome it. Hang in there-it's a bumpy ride but one that you can and will get

through.
