Everyone:

I had a colectomy in Dec 08 as a result of having Crohn's for about 15 years. Right before the surgery I was diagnosed with PSC. Is there anyone that has my situation. My doctors tell me the two are unrelated but that can't be with all the reading I have done it seems they are. My gastro doctor says it wold be about 10 years or so before I feel or see any symptoms. But I find myself tired at times. I'm 65 but in great shape and watch my diet, exercise, etc. I began juicing and have noticed a difference in energy, it has helped. I'm obviously conceerned but am so so so grateful to have found this site.

thanks,

Dundee Tom

Hi Tom,Welcome to the group.  I don't think they are saying PSC is unrelated to Crohns, but that your PSC was not caused your colostomy or by your Crohns. There does seem to be a relationship between Crohns and PSC (not parent - child), because 75% of PSC suffers have a IBD (UC or Crohns). There are still many people who get only get one of the diseases or get them in different orders which implies one does not cause the other.
