Lupus Week at Camp Sunshine -- August 22-27, 2004

-

Do you know a lupus family who could really use a getaway

this summer? Camp Sunshine will again offer a week of relaxation and

fun for kids, parents and siblings during its annual Lupus Week,

which will be August 22-27 this year.

For families in crisis, the opportunity to laugh, bond,

and share time with their spouse or other loved ones is often

overshadowed by the illness. Now in its 20th year, Camp Sunshine

offers a retreat for children with life-threatening illnesses where

they can be with their families and meet other families facing

similar challenges. There is no charge to participating families, and

volunteers come from around the country to assist in providing an

ideal environment in which to unwind and have a great time. The

program is open to newborns, children, and young people up to age 18.

Indoor activities take place in the activity center,

pavilion and stage, teen center, computer lab, arts and crafts area,

nursery and tot center, and indoor swimming pool. Outdoor activities

include volleyball and basketball courts, miniature golf, archery, a

climbing wall, while the lake offers opportunities for kayaking,

canoeing, and just plain fun in the water. There is a fully staffed

medical clinic and trained doctors and nurses on duty at all times.

All facilities are wheelchair accessible. The Camp also has

professional counseling and workshops that can help to restore the

fabric of the family by providing happy memories and the opportunity

to develop coping skills.

For application information, send an e-mail to

info@..., call , or visit the website at

www.campsunshine.org.

Camp Sunshine is proud to be an accredited camp of the

nationally renowned American Camping Association.
