Guest guest
I worry about you. I know, it is none of my business what you do. Some here think 20 mg Cortef is low dose. It is not. (Jeffries' Safe Uses of Cortisol not withstanding -it is an outdated book and dangerous to think routine 20 mg Cortef is safe in any sense of the word.) 20 mg Cortef is my full daily replacement 's disease dose, maybe even a bit too much. Shutting down the HPA axis is a clear risk on this amount if you don't wean yourself carefully. And do you ever intend to wean yourself???? It can be unpleasant to do so but wait too long and you'll never be able to wean yourself: it is called Secondary 's via the use of exogenous corticosteroids. Anyway, a self-crashed HPA axis is something you will regret profoundly. It is pretty easy to do this and it is by far the main source of new cases of Secondary 's. And if you don't crash the axis you will still have to endure the joys of adrenal suppression where you can't take Cortef since you are trying to get the adrenals back on line and at the same time you don't make enough cortisol to feel really well. If your adrenals are working, taking HC out of some idea that it will help you to better utilize thyroid hormones is really playing with fire. This is just my considered opinion, backed by a great deal of study and experience. Cortef Users, do as you wish, you will anyway.... be careful out there. Hopefully I am just a windbag and a nag and you all know exactly what you are up to and what the issues are. Jim
