Guest guest
Hello, — Glad to see that the Pacific office is doing this. We at Coastal have a similar program, and perhaps we can share ideas. Terry Regalado, Florida PPC, manages a monthly radio show with Radio Paz, which broadcasts locally and into some regions of South America. Our partnership with Radio Paz won the national CIS award for “Media” at the 25th Anniversary Annual Meeting in Seattle last fall. I’m forwarding your email to Terry. Have a great weekend. Guest guest
Hello, Migrant Health Promotion runs a cancer prevention/education program in the lower Rio Grande Valley called Nuestra Salud. In this program, women are trained as lay health promotors or promotoras to provide and facilitate health promotion, breast and cervical cancer screening, and case management. The contact people for this program are: Noelle Van der Tuin: noelle@... Graciela Camarena: graciecamarena@... We also train lay health promotors in MI to educate and encourage women to get their annual exams, although this is part of a broader program on maternal and child health. The contact person for the program is Coalter and she can be reached at: 616-887-2944. Please feel free to contact any of them with questions! Thank you, Tori Booker At 09:07 PM 05/27/2002 +0000, you wrote: >Thanks for the info! Guest guest
Esther - We, Nuestra Comunidad Sana, have a program funded by Komen to educate Latinas about cáncer del seno and get those who qualify for free exams into a provider for clinical exams and mammograms. You could read about it on our website: www.gorge.net/community/ncs. I believe there are many other promotor/a programs around the country doing similar work. Sorry, I don't know about cancer prevention per se. Good luck. Guest guest
Islaro - Hood River, Oregon. You may have been familiar with us under our old name: La Familia Sana. In accordance with our contract with Komen, we use mainly Komen material, but we have access to NCI stuff. We are working with o Astorga this summer to obtain radionovelas and other items from the work he is doing. We have the 800 number, but the first choice to contact us for breast cancer issues....we in turn are connected with the BCCP, and a number of providers who will do exams and referrals for mammograms.
