Well, it put me in stupors (and I drove to work knowing it was unsafe), but when I experienced some side effects like restless leg syndrom and feeling like I was overdosing), I went to my family doctor and demanded he give me a lower dose so I could wean off the drug. I took it for 3 months and have been off it for 2 months now and have not had any of those horrible, feeling hot, fainting, feeling agitated episodes. Interestingly though, there is a commercial from one lawyer that says if you have a loved one that died from using the fentanol patch to contact him. It is just a grim reminder that there is always a tradeoff with medications. The benefits vs the risks, so if you don't see benefits or FEEL benefits, then it isn't worth the risk.
