Questions about Armour

Hi, I'm new - I have been hypo since Oct. 2002 after RAI for

Graves'. Was on 125mcg Synthroid until last July, when my endo

turned me over to my PCP, who immediately saw the labs & decreased

to 112 mcg. (Duh! - the higher dose of Synthroid wasn't perfect, but

it was a lot better than I feel now). Anyway, after 6 months &

repeated bloodtests, he decided I should be at 125 mcg - so I made

an appointment to talk to him - made him feel guilty about messing

around with my dosage and told him I wanted to try armour - so I've

been on 60mg for 3 weeks and feel lousy - I'm going to tell him I

need more, and want to adjust it myself for a while (I'll have the

tests once in a while if that'll keep him prescribing the armour),

but how much should I ask for? I know Armour PI says increase by

15mg every 2-3 weeks, can I go higher than that? And what level

should I shoot for before agreeing to another blood test? Should I

take part of it periodically during the day or all at once? Also,

can you explain the benefit of taking it sublingually?

I hope I can convince him to do this, because the endo was a pompous

little man who didn't even want me to research, and didn't want to

hear how I felt, just strictly by the numbers. I don't ever want to

see him again. (And he's on the Top Docs list - I suppose if you get

the synthroid & you don't know any better, you'll believe him when

he says you're fine & your other symptoms aren't thyroid related!)

I appreciated any advice you can give!

Joyce
