Guest guest
had to cut and paste- mispelled name~~ Re: Here is an update and I can't believe that I am still looking for answers and not getting treated!!!!! Re: Re: first, after jumping throught their hoops and waiting 3 weeks- the ortho doc who was supposed to see me for my arm refused to give me an appointment-he thinks the current doc is treating me the right way. i am so frustrated and even angry. Re: Re: OK- then i go to the pain management doc for the post op visits after the esi's. noticed that buuring pain was relieved but that is all- i still have the aching pain on lower back and also once the burning pain was releuived i am now feeling the dull ache higher in my back (which make sense - the CT scan showed herniations at every level of my lumbar spine) Re: Re: EMG results showed Re: 1.) bilateral C4-C5 nerve root irritation Re: 2.) bilateral L4-L5 and L5-S1 nerve root irritation Re: 3.) ulner neuropathy left elbow Re: Re: Also found out that the jerk who did the emg WAS NOT a doctor- she called him a tech and explained that he is a doctor in another country but not here in the US- how do I know he actually knew what he was doing?????? The paim management doc is the one who intreprets the test and writes up the report- the tech's name is no where on the paperworek. - that sounds weird to me........ Re: Re: could the nerves in the neck that are irritated be causing any of the problem in my arms- no one knows. everyone is passing the buck. Re: Re: Do i go back to the ortho guy who did the surgery on my shoulder - (who told me to go somewhere else) with the reesults of the emg and see what he says? In addition no one seem to know what the painful lump is at my shoulder- is scar tissue painful?? Re: after she pushed on that lump - it made the entire shoulder to ache the rest of the day. Re: Re: She then told me the the ulner nerve problem cpould be causing the pain spasms in the upper arm- since I have been having the pain spasms since last July- and the elbow problem just started - that can't be correct. Re: Re: she thought about injecting the elbow with cortisone but then decided not to do it. Re: Re: icing on the cake - i told her that the ortho doc wanted me to see a rhematologsit to rule out fibro and she became very interested- she told me that she didn't think i had fibro and she decided to do the tender points exam. Re: Re: she told me that she chooses the points on the sternum, elbow, hips and knees- the neck and shoulders she had alreay examined and she knew they were sore to the touch- all tender points that she did were very painful. She then counted and came up with more than 11 painful tender points. Re: Re: She then wavered back and forth telling me that I had fibro or ,maybe it is fibro- then she started looking for other reasons that the temder points were painful. It appeared that she did not want to be the one who daignosed whether or not I have fibro. She did not give me a definative diagnosis- told me to go to the rheumatologit and see what he says. so I am still in limbo.....still in pain.....still very confused and frustrated. Re: Re: She wants me to get a MRI of my shoulder and she wants the closed unit to be used since they give better pictures. explained that I need the open MRI- she explained the places will sedate you - but it is not by a doctor- it is a paramedic. She also wanted me to go back to the same place who really screwed up my CT scan - I can't think that I would go back to that place- and allow then to be responsible to sedate me without harming me. Re: **************************************************** Re: Since I then knew that there was something wrong in my neck, I decided to see a neurologist, on my own. This guy is very straight forward, and not afraid to dispute what other doctors have said. Re: Re: He was blown away by the amount of narcotics I was taking. But neurologists are ones that don't prescribe narcotics- he told me I needed more anti-depressant and more neurontin. He was also overwhelmed with the list of all my surgeries and current problems. Re: Re: Bottom line - according to the neurologist: I have a orthopedic problem in my shoulder and he thinks that the nerves were damaged during the shoiulder surgery and the pain spasms are related to the shoulder and need to be treated by an ortho doc. Re: Re: The ulner nerve problem because I have been leaning on my elbows- and I really don't know if this is true or not. My left arm has been in my lap most of the time since that is where I can rest it amnd decrease the chance of the spasm from happening. I really don't think that I have been leaning on my elbows but I am not sure that I would remeber it if I did do it. Re: Re: He told me that the misalignment that I currently have in my spine (which the PM doc blames for alot of my spinal pain) was NOT there preoperatively- according to the preop MRI. Re: Re: In fact he told me that from looking at the MRI films - I had DDD more than a herniated disk - so everything the spinal surgeon told me before surgery and last month has been lies. There is nothing surgical that can be done- so I will have the pain the rest of my life. Re: **************************************************** Re: so I get home and get into a hugh fight with husband- we don't have money to pay for the insurance and medications, may not have the money to pay the mortage. Re: Re: His friend tried acupuncture and it relieved alot of his pain so I need to try acupuncture- even if insurance doesn't cover it. My PM doctor is trained in acupuncture- if she thought it would hrlp- don't you think she would have suggested it? Re: Re: Then he throws at me the stuff a " wellness " doc has been talking about on the radio - " all your symptoms could be cause by low hormomes and low thyroid " (even though I am on HRT and thyroid ) Re: Re: you need to go to the radio doc and see what he can do since the medical docs and their drugs don't seem to be helping. Even though this doc doesn't take any insurance and his charges for his full treatment plan is like over $2000. I ended up in tears of course. and I really don't know what to do. Re: Re: He tell me that the meds are not working - I try to explain that my pain would be worse if I wasn't on the pills- he tells me that the doctors aren't doing anything- well. the ortho doc won't see me - my current ortho doc tell me to go elswhere-the spinal doc has been lying to me all along. I am in limbo, I try and explain how I feel and the fear I have every day, the fear that something is really wrong and everyone is missing it. The fear that the spasms will increase in frequescy - afraid of the next spasm and trying to will it away. I try and explain how I feel when I can't fall asleep at night, and how the terrible cramps in my calf walk me up in so much pain. I tell him that there are times that I cannot remember the name of something- meds won't affect you that way- all your memory would be affected - but fibro has specific sysptoms and he call it a made up disease that no one know much about. I realize that he loves me and wants me to get better but this is not the w! Re: ay to do it. Re: Re: I am so tired of fighting for good medical care. We have Cobra until October if we can make the payments. Once we miss a month we lose the rest of the coverage. We looked into other coverages- and they are even more expensive and cover less. Bill needs his diabetic meds and I have my meds that I take- don't know how we are going to afford that without insurance. Re: Re: Sorry that I have bent your ears with my problems - I would appreciate any comments, suggestions etc -esp on the results of the fibo test and what the neurologist told me. (We think we need to look for a malpractice attorney.)
