Barb,

The HE has been quite a bit better lately. One of his BIG issues is that his

diabetes was WAY out of control (731) and he was hospitalized in January for

that. It must have been a big wake up call for him because he has had a major

turnaround on that. His blood sugars are much better and that has helped his

whole condition, especially his HE. I believe that a big part of is because the

high blood sugars were a major part of him not remembering to take his Lactulose

- it became a cycle. Now that his diabetes is so much better he keeps a chart

of when he takes his meds (Lactulose is a category of its own), food, insulin,

etc. and he is right on top of it. The problem with his HE have been better,

but not gone; it is manageable now.

You asked about how I am doing dealing with the HE. As you know personally and

with the long explanation above means that I am coping with it much better lol.

Like everyone else, we still have issues that we are dealing with and right now

we're fighting another issue with water retention - not ascites - and he is on

the maximum meds to deal with it and, of course, his meld score is up 1 point to

10. We are doing lots of tests but is is still the same old story, he is much

sicker than his lab work indicates.

I know, this is more than you asked, it all just seems to spill out.

Thank you so much for thinking about us.

LOVE & LIGHT
