Guest guest
Hi folks...Here we are...Still talking about " the diet " . I am emailing the list because I think it is important for all to know some issues of this diet...especially for those who chose to try it. I am sorry if any of you think I was a little harsh in my emails regarding this issue in the past. I had my reasons, and I will explain. First, let me start by saying for those you who don't know..I myself am a vegetarian. So, far be it for me to tell someone not to GO VEG! But, in my never to be humble opinion, Mick's diet was dangerous. It started off by fasting, and then moved into a raw/fruit and vegetable (fruitarianism) diet. That is how it was explained. According to research I have done, and common sense, that will kill your intestines. As the days turned to weeks of listening to the diet thing, endlessly, Mick disclosed that she eats some wild game. Yet, when advocating the diet on our list, she advocated a raw fruit and veggie diet only. Some of my veg receipes were thumbed off by her because they were stir fried or steamed veggies. Later into the diet, Mick states that she cooks stir fry and eats noodles. She also buys some chicken from the store. I guess my whole point of this is that she was advocating a raw fruit and veg diet to everyone, even those not interested in it, when in fact she did not do the same. On the other hand, she did not like being questioned on it at all. Some on this list were pretty much told that regardless of their IBS and the pain it would cause, they have to give this diet 100%. Well, not on my watch! Furthermore. When I was thinking about the diet issues, I wondered...what about fat and protein? So, I devulged in info. According to the diet she was talking about, you are supposed to eat nuts and legumes (beans) daily to fill this void. THAT WAS NEVER MENTIONED. You cannot survive without fat and protein. So, to those who have decieded to go this route...PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE DO YOUR HOMEWORK. Lastly. I will never allow someone on this list to tell anyone to quit taking their meds. That is a recipe for disaster. Or, the alternative is to eat some celery and take your meds??? Hmmmm. I think I would be sick. A vegetarian diet is a very good thing! But, giving yourself a transitional period is the way to accomplish your goals. I love being a veg. Thanks a bunch! Missy
