Guest guest
What an amazing story, Missy!! I would have been scared to death! Thank you so much for the laugh! On the same path of weird animal stories, last night my girlfriend was walking her dog, Aurora, in the back yard (Aurora is very sick) and she yells up to me, " Charity, you have to come down here and see this " . So, I ran down to see what the commotion was about, thinking that Aurora was having problems or doing something amazing again. I got outside and there is a Dove just sitting in our yard looking at us. We were able to get really close to it without it flying away or scaring it...so we started thinking that it might be a tame dove. It seemed that the dove had no fear of people (or dogs for that matter) so Tim came out and picked it up, all it did was try to hop away a little bit but it was happy to be held and snuggled up to him. The dove didn't bite, struggle, nothing... We put it in a cat carrier because we were worried that it might get eaten by all of the coyotes and foxes in the area (we have seen many as we are on the very edge of town). The bird is absolutely content to be in the carrier so we decided to go to PetSmart and get it a cage and some food. It's a Mourning Dove and the bird lady there thinks that it must have been someone's pet. So, now we have a bird in the house and the cats are absolutely transfixed. They just finally got over being fascinated by the fish we got a few months ago! Has anyone ever kept a Dove before? Any advice on keeping a bird would be appreciated, just write me off list at ember_thunderwolf@... Thanks!!
