Hi Dundee Tom;Sorry if my earlier messages were blank; I have been hitting the wrong key(s) this evening. Anyway, I was trying to reply to your question about "What is a cholangitis attack?"http://www.psc- literature.. org/FAQ.htmWhat is a cholangitis attack, and what are the symptoms?Cholangitis is an inflammation of the bile duct system that is usually related to a bacterial infection. It may occur as a result of blockage and/or inflammation of the bile ducts. Bile is normally sterile but can become infected with bacteria when obstruction of the bile ducts occurs. Symptoms of cholangitis can include any combination of the following:pain in the right upper quarter of the abdomen (pain may also occur in the chest, in the upper back, or the right shoulder)tenderness in the upper abdomennausea and

vomitingbelchingfeverchillsjaundice - yellowing of the skin and eyeslow blood pressurelethargydecreased level of alertnessitchingpale stoolsdark urineIf a fever and chills occur, then it is likely that a bacterial infection is present, and medical attention should be sought immediately.. Antibiotics can be administered to control the infection. For further information on this potentially life-threatening complication of primary sclerosing cholangitis, please consult the following articles:Cholangitis (MDAdvice.com)http://www.mdadvice .com/library/ symp/illness85. htmlCholangitis (eMedicine)http://emedicine.

Adding to symptoms:

·

Aching joints

·

No appetite

·

Very sleepy – I’ll sleep 20 hours a day when I have bout

·

Chest feels “tight”

Also – symptoms can vary widely. For instance, I haven’t

ever gotten jaundiced and my bilirubin stays low, my white count is only mildly

elevated. But the fever will go to 103 in a matter of an hour, and I’m

totally out of it.
